There is now an organizing committee for an Edmonton chapter of the extremely popular King Of The Dot MC Battle League. It's like a rap wrestling league with pre-written battles filmed and broadcast online. Oh, and sometimes money (not a belt) is put on the line.
KOTD battlers have about a month's notice of their opponents (to dig up some dirt and come up with some great punchlines). Each battle is comprised of three one-minute rounds (a capella) and winners are decided by a panel of four indiscriminate judges. Only one battle per MC per event, so it's not like you have a whole lot to commit to except crushing the opponent in front of you.
